Tiberias >> Travel Guide
If relaxing in a peaceful mountainous atmosphere is more your cup of tea, then Tiberias (Tverya) could well be the perfect location for your vacation in Israel. Tiberias is no stranger to looking after guests who want to relax and rejuvenate. For more than 2000 years this tranquil city, resting on a mountain slope, has dedicated itself to warmly welcoming guests and taking care of their needs.
Much has developed since the days of the Romans visits, however the peaceful energy that envelopes the old city is still very much the essence of its magic. The pace is relaxed, the views are picturesque and the sunsets are divine. It’s all too easy to loll away hours gazing at the Golan Heights and the Sea Of Galilee, allowing the mind & soul to rest and rejuvenate.
Sea of Galilee SunsetShould you want to include some activity on your vacation, the choice and variety is excellent. With many Christian and Jewish historical & religious sights within a short drive and delightful choice of nature reserves, exploring the sites of Israel is a very easy option from here. Numerous nature walks surround the city including a wonderful promenade that sprawls along the lake & marina. South of the old city is also the Hamat Tiberias National Park home of seventeen hot springs. Here the 60 degree Celsius waters are divinely infused with approximately 100 different minerals & a dip in any one of these is sure to melt away your aches and pains, helping to bring you to a state of pure bliss.
Of course with the Sea Of Galilee on your doorstep, clean cool fresh water is in abundance offering a delightful choice of swimming spots with shaded areas for afternoon naps.  A variety of water sports are also available and a boat trip on the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus walked on water, invites a travel tale to widen the eyes of listeners back home.
Tiberias Shore LineThe range of hotels is terrific; there is something to suit all pockets. Five star luxury, B & B's, tourist hotels and just outside the city is a huge range of quality zimmers (rooms) on the Kibbutz and Moshav’s in the area.
As with all of Israel, the excellent food in Tiberias will delight you. Whether it’s a quick hummus and pita or a scrumptious 3 course meal, the restaurants in the area are fabulous. And please feel very comfortable to ask a local to recommend a great eating spot…  Israelis love their food and discussing their favorite restaurants and eateries is a national pastime.
